What is a print advert: A print advert is another way of advertising that uses printed media such as magazines and newspapers in order to reach their target audience, business customers and prospects. Print advert can also be used in a digital way such as banner ads, mobile adverting and social media advertising to reach the same target audience but in the faster way because a digital print advert is shared throughout social media and will gain potential audience and also it is more modern in today's time to advertise print adverts digitally.
Characteristics
1) Headline
One of the key elements of a print advert is the headline. The title has to be short and exciting for the audience because if the headline is dull and weak, the customer or audience will not have any interest what so ever while a strong and exciting headline, the customer or audience will instantly be interested of the product. The headline is essentially the most important part of the print advert and which makes it successful if the headline is good of course.
2) Image
A print advert must have attracting image to win the audiences over for example if you are making a print advertisement of a place for a holiday like Spain, you have to get the most attractive place in Spain where people will be interested. The image along side with the headline, will be the spotlight of your very own print advert.
3) Logo
Having a memorable logo is essential for a print advert, big companies such as Adidas, Puma, Microsoft etc are successful because of their logos as it is memorable and it is recognised by the audience. When making a logo, think deeply when planning your own logo; you have to make it good as possible to attract your target audience and you can take inspirations from popular brands and take some of their ideas to include to your own logo (don't make your logo identical to other brands).
4) Contact Information
It is really important to include contact information to your print advert. Contact Information such website, social media, phone number and email as you want your customer/audience to know your every possible information to get in touch with you about the things that the client does or might be interested of doing any activities that the client has to offer etc. It is worth to point out that don't assume that not everyone will use the website or phone number because when you give other options in your print advert, majority will find it easier to just simply send a message to the client or follow the client's social media rather than phoning in to the client.
Consider which you think might be most suitable for you and why?
I think that all of the characteristics that I have researched will be suitable for me to use when I'm making my three print adverts because these characteristics has made print adverts really successful and therefore, by using these characteristics will get me the mark that I need to pass this unit. Also, using these characteristics will garner are large audience as the print advert will catch the eye of many people because how the way it is designed and the activities that the client is presented. Personally, the two characteristics that people will be looking the most is the image and headline because, the print advert that I'm making is about Sunderland and people would want to explore the most popular sites in the city so I will include sites as my main image such as Wearmouth Bridge and Stadium Light etc. As for the headline, it has to be eye catching to the customer/audience in order the print advert to be successful, so I need to think of something that will make my headline attractive but I'm still haven't thought about it just yet.
